Call for Papers

With the development of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) and the complex
environment in which they are deployed, traditional static deployment of
WSNs is not adequate for many forthcoming applications, especially with the
requirement of better energy efficiency, improved coverage, enhanced target
tracking, superior channel capacity, and so on. More effective and
efficient technologies need to be investigated and introduced to meet these
challenges. Mobility support is one of the most attractive technologies in
contrast to those with only static elements. Mobility support technologies
are much more versatile than traditional technologies as they can be
applied to any scenario and combined with other algorithms, models, and
technologies. Commonly, mobility related elements in WSNs are mobile sensor
nodes, mobile anchor nodes, mobile data collectors, mobile sinks, and so
on. The devices involve mobile phones, tablets and laptop computers,
vehicles for two‐dimensional space, autonomous underwater vehicles, and
unmanned underwater vehicles for three‐dimensional space.

The special issue is intended to encourage high‐quality research in
mobility support for next‐generation wireless sensor networks and push the
theoretical and practical research forward for a deeper understanding in
the fundamental algorithm, modeling, and analysis techniques of mobility
support for next‐generation wireless sensor networks. Authors are invited
to submit papers presenting new research related to the theory or practice
of mobility support for next‐generation wireless sensor networks, including
algorithms, modeling, technology, and application. The topics suggested can
be discussed in terms of concepts, the state of the art, standards,
implementations and evaluation, and running experiments or applications.
Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

Coverage and connectivity
Synchronization and localization
Data acquisition and collection
Routing protocols
Resource planning and scheduling
Context aware communication protocols
Targets localization and tracking algorithms
Attacks, security, and trust technologies
Fault tolerant control and topology control
Energy efficient and power control
Three-dimensional wireless sensor networks
Prototypes, services, application test beds, field trials, and simulation
tools
New technologies and research trends
Before submission authors should carefully read over the journal's Author
Guidelines, which are located at
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/guidelines/. Prospective authors
