				NAOMI #1

FIRST NORTH AMERICAN OPENMATH INITIATIVE WORKSHOP

The North American OpenMath Initiative (NAOMI, http://www.naomi.math.ca) will
be holding the first workshop on North American efforts in support of the
OpenMath standard (http://www.openmath.org) in Vancouver on Friday February
13th, 1998.

The workshop will take place at the Simon Fraser University Harbour Centre
Campus, located in the Vancouver downtown core.

The OpenMath standard will hopefully form the basic protocol for interoperating
scientific and engineering software. The standard is being pursued
internationally, and has support in the European Union, through the ESPRIT
program.

NAOMI is the organization coordinating North American research and development
of enterprise solutions for building OpenMath-conformant applications and
environments. Applications of the standard range from symbolic and numeric
computing, through education and online publishing, and through to
aerospace and other complex engineered systems.

All are welcomed to attend, but please mail the NAOMI Exec Committee
(naomi at naomi.math.ca) to register, and for more details. Please inform
us if you wish to contribute a talk.

Further details will be made available at http://www.naomi.math.ca/meetings/.
