The second MathML and Math on the Web International Conference
will be held June 29-30, 2002 at Hickory Ridge Conference Center
in Lisle, a suburb of Chicago. The conference is sponsored by
Wolfram Research, Waterloo Maple, Design Science, the American
Mathematical Society, HP Compaq, IBM, and the World Wide Web
Consortium (W3C).
Modeled on the successful first conference in October 2000, this
conference brings together those interested or involved in the
future of math on the web, and provides a forum for presenting
and discussing current research and applications emphasizing
mathematics on the web in general, and MathML in particular.
The final program is now set, and includes many interesting
talks, posters, and demos. It also includes invited talks by
Leslie Lamport (creator of LaTeX), David Carlisle (an editor of
the MathML 2 recommendation), and Roger Sidje (principal
implementer of MathML in Mozilla).
New this year is a "demo" night, featuring demonstrations of some
of the leading MathML applications. As is befitting a
web-oriented conference, there will be a large email lab and a
wireless network with a high-speed connection available for those
attending.
The resort-like setting of the conference center helps to enhance
the ample opportunities the conference provides for interaction
among attendees. Conference registration is currently being
accepted at:
https://www.wolfram.com/mathmlconference/register.cgi
Three pre-conference MathML tutorials are also being offered on
Friday, June 28. Space is limited for these hands-on tutorials,
so early registration is strongly recommended.
More information about the conference, including the full
schedule of events and presentation abstracts, is available on
the MathML Conference website at:
