SECOND CALL FOR PAPERS
NordSec 2007: The 12th Nordic Workshop on Secure IT Systems
October 11 - 12 2007, Reykjavik, Iceland

NordSec 2007 is organized by Reykjavik University, in Iceland, with a special
focus on Language-based Techniques in Security. Since 1996, the NordSec
workshops have brought together computer security researchers and
practitioners from the Nordic countries, Northern Europe, and elsewhere. The
workshop has an emphasis on applied computer security and is intended to
encourage interaction between academic and industrial research.
Confirmed invited speakers are:
- Cedric Fournet, Microsoft Research, Cambridge, UK
- Greg Morrisett, Harvard University, Cambridge, USA
The workshop is linked to a special issue of the Journal of Logic and
Algebraic Programming. Authors of selected technical papers may be invited
to submit revised versions for consideration in this special issue.
The workshop covers a broad range of topics in computer security, including,
but not limited to, the following areas:
- Applied Cryptography
- Commercial Security Policies and Enforcement
- Communication and Network Security
- Computer Crime and Information Warfare
- Hardware and Smart Card Applications
- Internet and Web Security
- Intrusion Detection
- Language-based Techniques for Security
- New Ideas and Paradigms in Security
- Operating System Security
- PKI Systems and Key Escrow
- Privacy and Anonymity
- Security Education and Training
- Security Evaluations and Measurements
- Security Management and Audit
- Security Models
- Security Protocols
- Social-Engineering and Phishing
- Software Security, Attacks, and Defenses
- Trust and Trust Management
A special focus of the 2007 NordSec workshop are Language-based Techniques
in computer security and their applications; papers and extended abstracts
on this topic are especially welcome. Students, researchers, and industry
professionals working in this area are encouraged to submit to the workshop.
The workshop will consist of sessions of half-hour talks on technical papers
printed in the workshop proceedings, as well as invited talks. The workshop
will also include sessions for presenting shorter, student papers, extended
abstracts, and expositions on less mature work. Short paper presentations
will be 5 to 10 minutes, with equal time allotted for questions and
discussion in order to create a workshop environment that ensures feedback
to students and other authors.

23 July, paper submission deadline
10 September, notification of acceptance
24 September, camera-ready papers
11-12 October, NordSec 2007
Selection for the workshop will be based on originality, contribution to the
field, and relevance to the workshop. Technical papers will be assessed
through double-blind peer review, with accepted papers published in the
workshop proceedings, published as a Reykjavik University technical report.
Program committee co-chairs are Ulfar Erlingsson, Microsoft Research, Silicon
Valley, and Andrei Sabelfeld, Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden.
