7th Doctoral Workshop on Mathematical and Engineering
                       Methods in Computer Science

                               MEMICS 2011

                          http://www.memics.cz
October 14--16, 2011, My Hotel, Lednice, Czech Republic

                          Call for Papers

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The aim: To provide a forum for doctoral students interested in
applications of mathematical and engineering methods in computer
science.

Topics: Submissions are invited especially in the following (though not
exclusive) areas: software and hardware dependability, computer
security, computer-aided analysis and verification, testing and
diagnostics, simulation, parallel and distributed computing, grid
computing, computer networks,  modern hardware and its design,
non-traditional computing architectures, software engineering,
computational intelligence, quantum information processing,
computer graphics and multimedia, signal, text, speech, and image
processing, and theoretical computer science.

Invited talks: Four invited talks by distinguished researchers from
the different areas of interest of the workshop will be a part of the
programme:

* Saddek Bensalem (VERIMAG, France)
* Peter Bentley (University College London, UK)
* Renato Renner (ETH Zürich, Switzerland)
* Petr Tuma (Charles University, Czech Republic)

Involvement: Students are invited to submit a regular paper or a
presentation. A regular paper is a previously unpublished original
work, not exceeding 8 pages in the LNCS style. A presentation reflects
recent outstanding work that has been published (or is accepted) at a
leading computer science conference or in a recognised scientific
journal, and shall be submitted in the form of a one-page abstract
which will also appear in the proceedings. Detailed instructions are
available at the web page http://www.memics.cz/.

The proceedings will be available at the workshop in a printed form.
Moreover, a possibility of publishing selected papers in a
post-proceedings with some established publisher is under negotiation.
Finally, authors of the best regular papers will have an opportunity
to publish extended versions of their papers in a special section of
the Computing and Informatics Journal (http://www.cai.sk/).

Dates: Abstracts of regular papers are to be submitted by July 24,
2011. The deadline for submitting the full regular papers is then
August 7, 2011. The deadline for submitting one-page abstracts of
presentations is August 25, 2011. The authors will be notified about
acceptance by September 9, 2011, and the final camera-ready versions
of all accepted submissions are expected by September 19, 2011.

Venue: The workshop will be held in Lednice, a lovely town in South
Moravia, close to the Austrian borders and famous for a beautiful
chateau (a UNESCO heritage site) and nearby vineyards.

The MEMICS 2011 workshop is organised jointly by the Faculty of
Information Technology, Brno University of Technology and the Faculty
of Informatics, Masaryk University.
