Call for Papers

With the development of WSNs, more complicated and challenging applications
now can be targeted by small and smart systems. Although most of these
applications require little power, the gradual degradation of the batteries
further decreases the useable lifetime of WSNs. Aside from relying on
revolutionary development of battery technologies, one of the most
important ways to improve the system lifetime is to “harvest” energy from
ambient environmental energy sources. Energy harvesting devices efficiently
and effectively capture, accumulate, store, condition and manage this
energy and supply it in a form that can be used to perform a helpful task.
Researchers need to design practical distributed and centralized algorithms
and to introduce novel theoretical models or evaluation methodologies to
challenge various kinds of research problems originated from Environmental
Energy Harvesting for WSNs. Although there are a large number of developed
applications using energy harvesting system power are now practical, there
are still many problems lead to considerable challenges in WSNs based on
Energy Harvesting. The special issue is intended to encourage high-quality
researches in WSNs based on Environmental Energy Harvesting, and push the
theoretical and practical research forward for a deeper understanding in
the fundamental algorithm, modeling, and analysis techniques of Energy
Harvesting. Authors are invited to submit papers presenting new research
related to the theory or practice of Energy Harvesting, including
algorithms, modeling, technology and application. All submissions must
describe original research, not published or currently under review for
another workshop, conference, or journal.

The topics suggested can be discussed in terms of concepts, the state of
the art, standards, implementations and evaluation, and running experiments
or applications. Potential topics include, but are not limited to:

- MEMS technologies
- Energy storage and management for WSNs
- Solar/Thermoelectric/Vibration/Biomechanical Energy Harvesting for WSNs
- Simulating and modeling energy harvesting WSNs
- Evaluation of energy harvesting applications and systems
- Standardization of energy harvesting
- Testbed for energy harvesting
- User studies and experiences
- Applications of Energy Harvesting

Before submission, authors should carefully read over the journal's Author
Guidelines, which are located at
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/ijdsn/guidelines/. Prospective authors
should submit an electronic copy of their complete manuscript through the
journal Manuscript Tracking System at
http://mts.hindawi.com/author/submit/journals/ijdsn/eeh/ according to the
following timetable:
