Edge Networking and Cloud

Edge network and cloud are important to both users and service providers in
the mobile era. Driven by two radical changes recently, rapidly increasing
fog computing and pervasive mobile devices, the design space of edge
network and edge cloud is jointly affected by the application/service
characteristics, users’ social and mobility behaviors, and the deployment
of the network and cloud infrastructure. The design of edge networking and
edge cloud can benefit from the intelligence mined from data-driven
intelligence. Carrying out analysis of data patterns and trends to make
intelligent decisions for today’s edge network and edge cloud design is
thus appealed to both the academic and industry.



The aim of this special section is to promote the state of the art in
scientific and practical research of data-driven design for edge network
and edge cloud, and to bring together researchers and practitioners from
academia and industry in an effort to present their research work and share
research and development ideas.



Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

·         Data mining techniques in edge networks and edge cloud;

·         Machine learning algorithms for edge network design;

·         User behavior analytics in edge networks;

·         Joint edge network and edge cloud design;

·         User-, content- and context-aware edge network intelligence;

·         Social-aware edge network content delivery;

·         Services and applications based on edge network and edge cloud;

·         Mobility and connectivity;

·         Fog services and applications.
