The only communication happening here is the "GetURL" query that goes from a browser, a mail program or other to this desktop OMcentral application I'm suggesting to build. Just as an email address to is passed to a mail client when clicking a mailto: link or the host provided when clicking on a telnet link !

This communication is platform specific and implementations of this application will have to deal with these. On MacOS this is implemented through AppleEvent and the thing is not too hard to build.
On Linux and probably Windows this just handled through command-line arguments which will have to communication efficiently to the OMcentral, possibly launch it.

So no protocol...
Am I the only one still clicking mailto: URLs or what ?
