The CD interval1 is in the MathML CDGroup, the idea behind this was to
provide compatibility between OpenMath and MathML. I have just had a look
at the MathML spec. it uses intervals for such things as ranges of
integration, domains of functions etc. I guess you can do that in
OpenMath. What you can't do is perform operations between interval
objects, this would require another CD to define these operations.
