Hello, 

 I have been following the discussion about fp numbers:
for all practical purposes : all numbers are rational.
the concept of being 'floating', irrational or even
transcendental is a philosophical concept. 
Infinite precision is a 'goal' for all CAS systems
eventually that's it. 

It is interesting to consider other numbers than
rational numbers but we are all limited to a fixed
number of digits, we are limited to what is
constructible (means reachable) in the number of digits.

I do agree with Mr. Gonnet's view on this.
