[om] a developer's perspective on CDs

Dear David,

of course all what you say is right in principle. But that is not what
Andrew is saying, I think. The whole experience is not inviting, but
discouraging from the outside. And I can only support that observation.

I know that the CDs are available but to find the 5 or 7 clicks that are
necessary to really see them always takes me some time, and I would
certainly be scared away if I had not seen them before.

If you do not have a very strong motivation, you will be turned away by the
whole closed-shop spirit of OpenMath (this is not only the web pages). I
agree with Andrew that we should try to make the OpenMath experience much
more like the one you get from SourceForge. Maybe the insistence on the
Standard (which is something fixed) as opposed to user community of tool
builders and mathematics-definers is what makes the stuff seem so static.
